Guest Speaker Rev Sophia Tan

Sophia is the founding pastor of Living Spring Fellowship and was ordained in 1991 by the Assemblies of God of Singapore. God called her to build a Chinese congregation in Singapore in 1993 and thus, Living Spring Fellowship was born. The church currently has a weekly attendance of more than 400. Her ministries include discipleship, mentoring, counseling, pastoring, teaching and preaching both locally and overseas.
Sophia became a Christian at the age of 17 and was baptized two years later in Grace Assembly of God, Singapore. She has a Diploma in Radiology and had worked as a radiographer before she answered the call of God to serve fulltime. She enrolled for training in ministry, graduating from the Assemblies of God Bible College, Singapore in 1985 and the Baptist Theological Seminary in Penang in 1986.
She also sharpened her skills in counseling, graduating from the University of South Australia with a Master’s degree in Social Science (Counseling).
Sophia is heavily involved in teaching, training, counseling and mentoring in Living Spring Fellowship. She has also led mission teams to various parts of Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Cambodia, and Macau.
Sophia serves actively in the Assemblies of God of Singapore. She is an Executive Committee member of the Assemblies of God of Singapore as well as The treasurer of the Assemblies of God Community Services Society. She is also advisor to the Assemblies of God Chinese Department.
Sophia lectures in various Bible colleges, namely the Assemblies of God Bible College, Bible College of Malaysia, Tung Ling Seminary (Singapore and KL) and Hosanna Bible College in Sibu, Sarawak (East Malaysia). She is also an inspirational preacher of God’s Word, being regularly invited to speak at church camps, leaders’ retreats, national women’s retreats, and national youth camps. When her own church schedule permits, she also accepts invitations to preach at the worship services of other churches.
Sophia, together with her husband, Rev Philip Chan, has planted churches in Singapore and Malaysia and prays that God will continue to lead them to plant churches around the world. God has blessed them with two children, Melissa and Raymund.
