Overcoming your Waterloo

Overcoming your Waterloo

Pathway

Many years ago, I took part in a Toastmaster competition where I competed with some of the best speakers in public speaking. I chose a topic entitled, “How to overcome your trouble in a troubled world”. Facing the three unsmiling judges and the crowd, I gave my best shot that morning.

After the competition, a young woman introduced herself and asked whether I am a psychologist or a psychiatrist. I told her I am not. That woman thought I could be of help went on to disclose her problems which appeared insurmountable and overwhelming. She was affected mentally and emotionally for months.

Conversations

Little did I know that a seven minutes public speaking that morning in a highly charged competition could trigger a sense of hope in someone who was facing her Waterloo. I offered some practical steps to address her problems and encouraged her to attend church.

The Hope

Friends, are you facing issues of life just like that young woman? Are you in a valley without hope and desperately wanting to get out? Fear engulfs you like an ocean and hope appears to be a distant dream. Doom and gloom appear to be the order of the day.

Take heart, I have news for you. Jesus walked this life pathway for 33 years and scripture tells us that He sympathizes with humanity in their sufferings. He understands the pain we go through and wants to walk with you through the dark tunnel and let you see the light of day at the other end.

You can take comfort in John 16:33 (ESV) where Jesus said,

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Hebrews 4:14-16 tell us that Jesus sympathizes and intercedes for us and is with us through all our life circumstances. If you have a need or are in trouble right now, commit it to the Lord and expect a miracle based on His Words. God is never late.

Timed.

You may go through difficulty, hardship, or trial but as long as you are anchored to Him, you will have hope. – Charles Stanley –

Because He lives I can face tomorrow.
