DAY 1         Prayer of Thanksgiving

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.     [Psalm 100:4]

Prayers of thanksgiving are proclaimed throughout the Bible. In 1 Chronicles 16:7-36, we are shown through David’s song an excellent example of four elements included in true thanksgiving:

  • Remembering what God has done for us.
  • Telling other about it.
  • Showing God’s glory to others.
  • Offering gifts of ourselves, our time, and our resources.

Prayers of giving thanks are indeed important as we all have reasons to be thankful. In fact, we are reminded “Keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will. . .” (1 Thess 5:17-18)  We can be thankful for who God is and for the opportunity He gives us to turn to Him in all situations, good and bad. God is always there for us. Our sincere prayers let Him know that we are thankful for that. Prayers of thanksgiving should be a continuous part of our everyday lives.

Surely we all have many things to thank God for in the year 2011, lets also thank God on what He is going to do in our lives in year 2012.

DAY 2         Pray for Personal Breakthrough

Praying for yourself is important, because the person with the greatest power to help or hinder God’s work in your life is you. Even Jesus prayed for Himself while He was on earth. Praying for yourself will empower you to live the way God wants you to and grow to become more like Jesus along the way.

We can start by acknowledge that Jesus is the Lord over every area of our life (Prov 3:5-6) and by prayer and petition, present your request to God (Phil 4:6). Below are some prayer points to help us pray:

  • Pray for personal repentance; confess your sins and ask for forgiveness.
  • Pray for Holy Spirit to transform our lives, cleansed our heart and renewed our mind.
  • Pray for healing if your body is sick “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24).
  • Pray that God will intervene and prosper our hand in our studies, career, business, family life, relationship with others, ministry, etc.

Scriptures: Isaiah 55:6-8, Matthew 11:28-30, John 6:35, Mark 11:25, Titus 2:11-14, 1 John 3:2-3

DAY 3         Pray for Family

One of God’s highest priorities is preserving family relationships. God designed marriage (Gen 2:18,24) and the family to accomplish His purpose and to enrich our lives (Psalm 127:3). A family unit is established upon divine creation and Satan utilizes any circumstances that promote disputes and destruction within a relationship (Eph 4:26-27, 1 Peter 5:7-8). The majority of families rarely participate in activities together, directing their attention to the television or computer. In forfeiting dialogue with family members, parents and children lack unity from God through prayer.

On DAY 3, Families are encouraged to pray together, if possible, everyday! Single adults can pray for your own immediate family. Below are some prayer points to help us pray:

  • Invite Jesus to be the Lord of your household and be in control of the family.
  • Pray for father to be spiritual leader of the house. As the father assumes his place as spiritual leader in the home, God blesses the family. (Gen 18:19)
  • Pray for mother to partner with father to run the family with love and cares. As the mother seeks to please God in her prayers, God rewards her family. (Prov 31:10-29)
  • Pray that we/parents will teach the children the way of the Lord. (Eph 6:1-4)
  • Pray for our children/grandchildren to grow in faith, knowledge/Word of God and to live a godly life. Pray that the young ones to love the truth, and shun evils. Pray also that they will honour their parents and have a teachable spirit to learn from their parents and elders.
  • Pray for God to protect our family from physical harm and evil spirits.
  • Pray for family unity. Pray for peace, love and joy to abide in the family.
  • Pray for salvation of those family members who are still pre-believers.

Scriptures: Exodus 20:12, Deut 6:6, Psalm 34:11, Psalm 78:1-8, Psalms 103:17-18, Psalm 127:3-5, Prov 3:1-10, Prov 4:1-13, Eph 5:23-33,

DAY 4         Pray for KAOG Pastors and Leadership Team

When we speak of pastoral leadership, we mean the work that pastors do in giving direction, equipping, and motivating members of a congregation to participate in the congregation’s mission in its local community and beyond. That is why it is crucial to pray for our pastors and the leadership team of the church. Below are some prayer points to help us pray:

  • Pray that our Leaders and Pastoral Staff becomes more surrendered and poured out to Christ, so they can have spiritual breakthroughs by seeking the fear of God and the mind of Christ and the Spirit’s leading. (1 Cor. 2:16; Gal. 2:20-21)
  • Pray that our Church and Pastor have and continue to take hold a growing, consistent walk with Christ with a devotional life and prayer that is steadfast. Pray that they realize and allow Christ to work and use them as they grow closer in their faith, spiritual formation, maturity and love. (Psalm 16:8-11; 73:28; Rom. 8:31; 2 Pet. 1:5-7)
  • Pray for discernment in exposing any plans of the enemy against our Church or attacking our pastors and staff. Ask Christ to protect us as we wage spiritual warfare against the enemy on behalf of our Church. (Eph. 6:11-12, 16; Col. 2:6-8; 1 Pet. 3:12)
  • Pray for discernment to seek God’s leading and direction for the leaders and pastoral staff, that they seek His ways and not trends, traditions, personal agendas or anything that is not from the Spirit and Word. Pray that they can discern and prioritize what is important and precious and what is not. (Isa. 6; 2 Cor. 11:14; 2 Tim. 3:5; 1 John. 4:1; Rev. 4)
  • Pray for all the KAOG pastors and family – God’s protection and good health.
  • Pray that God will raise more Spiritual Parents and Carecell Leaders in KAOG to cater for future growth.

DAY 5         Pray for Church

Bill Hybels quoted “The local church is the hope of the world..” many times in his messages. Jesus’ strategy to save the world is through His church, He has now plan B. Jesus also mentioned that “I will build my church”. In order for the church to be strong, the church needs a lot of prayer and be guided by the Holy Spirit.  Below are some prayer points to help us pray:

  • Pray that God will restore our first love for Him. (Rev 2:4-7)
  • Pray for unity. Pray against satan’s oldest tricks being used in our mist e.g hurts, anger, unforgiveness, offence. (Psalm 133:1, John 17:23, 1 Cor 12:12) Pray also that the church will practice “love your neighbour as yourself.”
  • Pray for strong walk of faith among all the members. Pray against worries, doubt, anxiety and unbelief. (Acts 3:16, 1 Cor 16:13, Phil 4:1-9)
  • Pray for church to rise up to the salt and light in the community in Kajang. (Matt 5:13)
  • Pray for church to have a great love for the lost. Pray that the members will be actively involved in evangelism to oikos and also not easily give up in doing follow up and discipleship. (Matt 28:19-20)

DAY 6         Pray for Oikos

Prayer is the big weapon for the salvation of souls. Argument and debate without prayer is dry and fruitless. Do not spend all your time bashing your head against the arguments of people. Instead bash into Heaven with strong prayers on behalf of those you want to be saved.  Below are some prayer points to help us pray:

  • Pray against the power of darkness that claims a hold on this persons’ life so that he/she will have the freedom to choose to accept Jesus Christ apart from Satan’s interference or bondage. (2 Cor 10:3-5)
  • Pray that the Holy Spirit will draw this person toward Christ, convict the person of his/her sin and reveal to him/her the truth of God’s plan for salvation. (John 16:8-9)
  • Pray that God will orchestrate circumstances, people and events into this person’s life in order to reveal to the person his/her need to Christ. (John 4:7-26)
  • Pray for yourself that God will use you as an instrument to bring this person to Christ. (Matt 5:13-16)
